Courtesy Regé-Jean Page It was back in 2014 when a very young, personable and determined actor, the nephew of my brother’s business partner, came to see me and one of my best friends and collaborators, Celebrity endorsement specialist Leila Shirazi (who I was working with on projects for Tom Hardy ) – on a quite informal basis at home in London. He was keen to get some general advice on, among other things, how to approach getting more of a platform as he progressed in his acting career. Fast forward to January 2021, and that young actor is the celebrated Regé-Jean Page, who plays the much adored Duke of Hastings in Netflix’s hit show BRIDGERTON – which in only its first month has been streamed in 63 million homes. Nigeria’s Official Selection to the 93rd OscarsWe are more than delighted to represent international publicity for Nigerian film “THE MILKMAID” Directed by Desmond OvBiagele which has qualified for the 93rd Oscars® . Nigeria’s Official Selection Committee (For the Academy Awards® IFF Submissions) has confirmed Desmond Ovbiagele’s ‘The Milkmaid’ as Nigeria’s official 2021 submission. The film beat a number of other films in the final voting stage. Contending films included ‘Ibi’ (The Birth), ‘Voiceless’, ‘Eyimofe’, ‘Sanitation Day’ and the Mo Abudu produced ‘Oloture’.
The film explores the harsh reality of insurgency in Northern Nigeria using the story of two Fulani sisters, Aisha and Zainab who get kidnapped by insurgents. It stars Anthonieta Kalunta, Maryam Booth, and Gambo Usman Kona. Unlike Genevieve Nnaji’s Lionheart which the Academy disqualified from the international feature film category last year for having English as the main language of the script, The Milkmaid fulfils the requirement for a predominantly non-English dialogue track.
